14. The Effect of GCP Against CYP1A1 Activity

CYP1A1 belongs to the cytochrome P450 enzyme class, a kind of enzyme that converts pre-carcinogens to carcinogens. It has been well established that the activation of CYP1A1 plays an important role in DEN-induced and PB-promoted mouse hepatocarcinoma model. GCP-mediated inhibition of CYP1A1 activity may contribute to the protection mechanism against carcinogenesis.

Summary:

The results reveal that GCP can significantly inhibit the incidence of primary hepatocarcinogenesis as well as metastatic pulmonary tumors in chemocarcinogeneic animal models. It suggests that GCP might be used as a chemopreventive supplement.
